A story development drawing from the Disney Studios animated musical masterpiece, "Fantasia" (1940). Featuring five loose yet stunning illustrations of the centaurettes bathing at the edge of a pond, the graphite sketches were created at the studio and used during the development process of the "Pastoral Symphony" sequence of the film. Albert Hurter and Martin Provensen both worked on the sequence and were inspired by the artwork of Arnold Bocklin, a moody symbolist painter, Franz Von Stuck, an art nouveau era artist, and Heinrich Kley, an illustrator and painter. However, throughout the animation process the centaurettes and centaurs became less realistic and took on a more comedic and "cartoony" appearance. Measuring 10"x12" overall, with the image area measuring about 7.5"x10", the drawing is in very good condition with light edge wear, page discoloration, and pin holes along the top and bottom edges due to studio use.
